Tell us a little bit about yourself, what is your background and where did you grow up?
Hi! Thank you so much for inviting me to be part of this great project! My name is Klaudia, I'm 33 years old, originally from Poland, and now living in the beautiful city of Madrid. I grew up in Cracow, we had a small but cozy apartment right in the city center. I remember the freezing winters filled with snow, and when Christmas time comes close, I miss that so much. Nowadays the climate has changed a lot, so there are mostly rainy Christmases.
What inspired you to start @WhatWomenWear_Madrid, and how has moving to Madrid influenced your fashion perspective?
I've always worked in fashion, so when I moved to Madrid, I knew I wanted to create a space where I could share my passion. At first I was just observing, and I was amazed at how effortlessly women dress here…how they play with contrasts, shapes, and textures. I noticed a lot of diversity, women dressing however they want, feeling confident in it. I wanted to feel the same and local style had helped me discover my own signature style that reflects my personality and makes me feel empowered everyday. Back in Poland, I used to worry about judgmental looks if I wore something extravagant, but here I don't have that feeling anymore, even when I'm recording myself on the street 😅
What qualities do you look for when choosing brands to work with, and how do you ensure they align with your personal style?
The first thing I ask myself is whether they offer a product I would personally love to wear and can genuinely recommend to my community. It's crucial for me that the product is high quality and long-lasting. I avoid fast fashion deals because I find them very harmful to our planet. I believe in quality over quantity, and I seek out brands that share a similar approach. As I've defined my style over time, I now have a clearer understanding of what aligns with it and whether the pieces will complement my closet.
What has been your favourite project or collaboration since moving to Spain?
That's a veeery hard question haha, since I've had the pleasure to work with many incredible brands, including yours. I think I'm most proud of collaborations with brands like Dyad, The New Society, Maravic, or Hollie. These brands have a well-defined aesthetic, produce locally using the highest quality materials, and offer limited quantities. I love knowing that when I have a piece like the Dyad Bag, I won't see it on every other girl on the street cause it’s unique and special ❤️
How do you balance creativity with the commercial goals of the brands you work with?
I always start by understanding the brand's vision, values, and audience. Once I have a clear picture I try to blend my personal style with creative ideas I prepared for the brand while staying authentic to my own audience. I believe that successful collaborations come from finding that sweet spot between expressing creativity and making sure the brand’s message shines through in a way that feels natural and engaging for my community.
What's one wardrobe staple you can't live without, and how do you style it for different occasions?
I would say wide-leg pants are my staple because I love everything oversized, loose, and voluminous. I wear them in both SS and FW, I just change the material, breezy linen for summer and wide-leg jeans or wool trousers for winter. Being 1.61m tall, I’ve discovered that this shape flatters my silhouette and makes my legs look longer. For everyday wear I style them with sneakers or ballet flats, a t-shirt, and a cardigan. For a more elevated look, I opt for pointed shoes, a shirt or blouse with voluminous sleeves, and a blazer. Accessories define the look, so I love to add a pop of color with my Dyad Bag (I have it in blue and red) along with a silk scarf or statement jewelry!
How do you see your work evolving in the future? Are there any new projects or trends you’re excited about?
I see myself traveling more in the future, although that’s currently a bit limited because I have small children. I would love to showcase What Women Wear around the world, not just in Madrid. Since I have an international audience, I’m sure they would appreciate seeing street trends from other European (and non) fashion capitals, btw should I come to Cape Town?? ;)
In terms of trends, I’m particularly excited about the growing emphasis on sustainability and ethical fashion. Consumers are becoming more conscious of their choices, and I want to highlight brands that prioritize quality and sustainability in their products. This shift will also be reflected in street style, and I believe we’ll see more diversity and a revival of vintage pieces as a celebration of originality!
Lastly, what does wearing pieces from a brand like Dyad mean to you, and how do they fit into your personal aesthetic?
As I mentioned, I love to wear unique pieces, and choosing Dyad allows me to feel like I’m part of something bigger. This reflects my conscious choices and supports my journey in building an original image. Dyad's designs are full of colors and organic-inspired shapes, adding a playful and unexpected touch to my looks. They help me transmit my message as a fun, open-minded, and conscious woman who loves to spread positivity everywhere she goes 💃.
