As much as I love my work, our studio, and my incredible team, taking a step back and pausing for a moment of rest can be truly refreshing. I often find it challenging to fully unwind within my daily routine, so travelling has become my go-to way to recharge. What makes it even easier to take a break is knowing that my wonderful team can manage everything while I’m away, allowing me to step back without worry.
Last year, a trip to the stunning Puglia region in Italy inspired our Sweet Life Collection. The serene landscapes, warm tones, and effortless style of this beautiful region truly left a mark on my creativity. This year, I was lucky enough to revisit Puglia, bringing along some of my favourite Dyad pieces. It was such a pleasure to see how well the bags adapted to my travels—perfectly fitting into my wardrobe and seamlessly complementing our day-to-day activities.
Travel is not just about relaxation; it’s about filling your mind with new experiences. This trip to Puglia was filled with moments that sparked many fresh ideas—exploring new sights, embracing a different environment, hearing a new language, and savouring new flavours. Each of these moments fed the inspiration I needed, especially with the South African summer season just around the corner. I’m excited to translate these ideas into new concepts for this season, bringing a touch of Italian charm to our pieces.
Returning to work feeling refreshed and creatively recharged is one of the most rewarding aspects of taking a break. Even if you can't travel far, there are many ways to step out of your usual routine and rediscover your inspiration. Whether it’s a walk along the beach, trying out a new restaurant, or visiting a local gallery or museum, embracing new experiences can provide a fresh perspective on life.
